An Analysis of scholarship offered by LIC

Life Insurance Corporation of India offers LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship to commendable students who belong to economically weaker section of the societies to pursue their higher education.

Candidate who have passed their Class 12 Board Examination or equivalent examination in the present academic session are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The candidate must seek admission in any one of the programs namely: Medicine, Engineering and Graduation in any discipline, Diploma Course or Govt. approved vocational courses, ITI. For pursuing higher studies in a government or private college or institution the selected candidates are offered Rs. 10000 per annum by the Life Insurance Corporation of India


Eligibility 

Candidate should have passed their class 12 or its equivalent examination in the same academic year in which they are applying for the scholarship.
  • In case of income ceiling of parents/guardians if the candidate has dropped their studies then in that case Educational Qualification will be relaxed to class 10 or equivalent subject.
  • In the class 12 examination candidate must have scored minimum 60% aggregate marks.
  • The family income of the candidate from all the sources should not exceed Rs. 1,00,000


Candidates have to apply Online at the official website of LIC. On successful submission of the Application Form candidates will receive an acknowledgement mail on their respective mail I’D.

The candidates selected will be paid Rs. 10000 on an annual basis. It will be paid in ten monthly installments of Rs. 1000 each for the subsequent years of the candidate’s studies.

Renewal 

The selected candidates every year have to meet the prescribed eligibility conditions for renewal of the scholarship for the whole duration
  • Candidates pursuing professional courses have to obtain minimum 55% aggregate marks in the previous academic year to continue to be beneficiary of the scholarship scheme
  • Candidates pursuing bachelor level courses or equivalent courses have to obtain minimum 50% aggregate marks in the previous academic year to continue to be beneficiary of the scholarship scheme.


Disbursement of Scholarship
  • One member from one family is eligible for the scholarship grant
  • Candidates will have to be punctual a benchmark for which will be decided by the competent authority of the respective institution.
  • In case the candidate fails to follow any of the prescribed rules and regulations then the scholarship will be discontinued then and there itself.
  • In case the submitted documents are found to be false on investigation then the allotted scholarship will be cancelled.
Selection Procedure 

Candidates are selected on the basis of the marks obtained by them in Class 10 and Class 12 as well as their family income is taken into consideration
  • Candidates have to submit the Income Certificate in the form of an affidavit on non -judicial stamp paper if the parents are self-employed parents and if parents are employed then submit documents like- land held in the name of parents.
  • Candidates having lowest family income will be given preference.
